SONTAG -- Franklin County won 5 of 6 singles matches and swept doubles play Friday en route to an 8-1 non-district boys' tennis victory over Lord Botetourt at the Franklin County Recreation Park courts.
FCHS's win in its 2013 home opener is its first of the season and stops a three-match losing streak dating to last year.
FCHS won four singles matches in straight sets.
Winning singles match for the Eagles, a year removed from reaching the Northwest Regionals for the first time in program history, were Colby Arrington (6-2, 6-2), Chris Teeple (6-0, 6-0), Hunter Amos (3-6, 6-3, 10-1), Boston Burke (6-2, 6-2), Josh Schuck (6-0, 6-0 and Travis Knott (6-1, 6-3).
Amos rallied from a first-set loss to claim his victory at No. 3 singles.
In doubles, Arrinngton and Teeple won at No.1, 6-1, 6-2, while Amos and Burke rallied from a first-set loss for a 4-6, 6-4, 11-9 win.
The team of Nicholas Tuner and Brandon Pierson scored Lord Botetourt's lone win at No. 3 doubles, 6-3, 6-4 over Schuck and Knott.
