| Seneff places fifth in national event |

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Franklin County senior Coy Seneff placed fifth in his final indoor track and field meet of the season last weekend -- the New Balance Indoor Nationals at the New Balance Armory.
Seneff, a Radford University signee and a two-time Northwest Region champion in the pole vault, finished fifth in that event in the Emerging Elite division.
Twenty-four vaulters from across the United States competed in the division and 22 of those vaulters cleared heights.
The opening height in the division was 13 feet, 3.75 inches and it progressed to 13-9.75, 14-3.5, 14-9.5, 15-3.5, 15-9.25, 16-1.25, 16-.5.25, 16-9.25, 17-1, 17-5, 17-7.5 and 17-9.75.
Seneff cleared 14 feet, 3.5 inches in the finals.
Sean McEvoy of Bronx, N.Y., competing for Fordham Prep, captured top accolades. He cleared 15 feet, 3.5 innches. |
