A Bassett man will serve 14 years in prison for fondling an 8-year-old girl.
James Andrew Kendrick, 26, pleaded guilty in January in Franklin County Circuit Court to object sexual penetration of a child under the age of 13.
Kendrick was sentenced Tuesday in circuit court to 25 years in prison with 11 years suspended.
Kendrick was also sentenced to five years probation and ordered to be of good behavior for 25 years.
The incident occurred in 2004 at a residence in Franklin County when Kendrick was 18 years old, according Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Cooper Brown.
The girl told investigators about the incident in February 2012.
Kendrick told investigators that he was under the influence of marijuana when the incident occurred, Brown said. |
