A Rocky Mount man has been charged with five drug-related felonies in connection with a search of his residence last weekend.
Robert Lee Hamlin, 34, is charged with distribution of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine and possession of a firearm while in possession of cocaine, according to Sgt. Tim Taylor with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.
Hamlin is also charged with felony child neglect, Taylor said, because a 7-year-old child was inside the residence at the time of the search.
After investigators arranged a controlled purchase of one pound of marijuana Saturday morning at Hamlin's residence on Sherman Lane in Sydnorsville, Investigator S.E. Richardson obtained a search warrant for the residence that was executed at 10:20 a.m., Taylor said.
Investigators seized one-half pound of plant material believed to be marijuana, $2,000 in U.S. currency, one-half gram of an off-white substance believed to be crack cocaine and a 9 mm handgun, Taylor said, along with drug paraphernalia.
Hamlin has been released on bond.
