‘Hope’ and ‘change’ not working for the middle class

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

The federal government's hope and change are not working too good for me or the rest of the middle class these days. With the Social Security tax increase from our paychecks, we lose between 40 and 80 dollars a month. AEP's increase has made us redo our budgets. Gas is starting to climb back up, and the price of food hasn't gone down.

All this and no pay raise for three years has made my paycheck much smaller, and this isn't the good change I was looking for.

They want to force federal workers into a four-day work week with corresponding pay. We know the government is top heavy with federal workers. That means 60 percent of the workers are on salary and not affected. So again, the middle and lower class take the bullet with this plan. While Congress gives themselves raises, the others get the shaft.

Here's my plan: Everyone from the lowest paid person to the highest paid CEO forfeit one week's pay to Uncle Sam, and if they don't waste it, we won't fall off the cliff. They won't listen to the working man because we know nothing and are just a meal ticket to them.

Something needs to change or we are all heading for the toilet!
