Franklin County decals go on sale Friday, March 1 with the current decals expiring April 15.
Citizens who purchased a decal last year should receive an application to reorder a decal in the mail.
Decal fees are as follows: cars and trucks, $25; motorcycles, 18; trailers over 4,000 pounds gross weight, $25; and trailers from 1,501 pounds gross weight to 4,000 pounds gross weight, $20.
No decal fee is required for trailers 1,500 pounds gross weight and under.
On the decal application, draw a line through vehicles that are incorrect and add any additional vehicles on blank lines.
There is a charge of $13.50 for limited use antique vehicles. Such vehicles must have antique or vintage tags on them at the time of decal purchase. Registration for these decals are required.
To purchase a decal by mail, both copies of an application must be mailed by March 31.
Make checks payable to Franklin County Treasurer, 1255 Franklin Street, Suite 101, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151.
This will be the last year vehicle owners will have to purchase a county decal. Beginning in 2014, decals will no longer have to be purchased and affixed to vehicle windshields. Instead, the decal fee will be added on to personal property tax bills. |
