The Rocky Mount woman charged as an accessory in a murder-for-hire plot to kill her friend's ex-husband has been granted $75,000 bond with numerous conditions.
Cathy Warren Bennett, 37, was granted $60,000 bond Thursday afternoon; however, Franklin County Commonwealth's Attorney Tim Allen appealed the decision.
Friday morning, a judge increased the bond to $75,000 and ordered Bennett to have no contact with the victim or her co-defendant, Angela Robin Nolen, 47, of Moneta.
The judge also ordered Bennett to stay away from Sontag Elementary School, where she worked as the school nurse, and to have no contact with any school employees.
The bond conditions also allow the Franklin County Sheriff's Office to search Bennett's home for firearms.
Bennett is charged as an accessory to the solicitation of a hit man to kill Nolen's ex-husband, according to the Virginia State Police. The charge is a felony, punishable by up to 40 years in prison. |
