Television meteorologist Jamey Singleton was seriously injured in a head-on collision on Route 122 in Bedford County Tuesday morning.
Singleton, 34, of Rocky Mount was traveling north on Route 122 in a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse when the car crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a delivery truck, according to Sgt. Rob Carpentieri with the Virginia State Police.
Singleton had to be extricated from his vehicle, Carpentieri said. He was airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
The hospital is not releasing information on his condition, according to spokesperson Allison Buth.
The driver and passenger in the Schwan's delivery truck were also transported to Roanoke Memorial by ambulance, Carpentieri said. The driver of the truck was identified as Leo George Jr., 56, of Moneta, and the passenger was Joshua Ross, 34, of an unknown address.
All three men were wearing seat belts.
Singleton has been charged with reckless driving, Carpentieri said.
The crash occurred about 9:49 a.m. this morning on Route 122 at the intersection of Stony Fork Road, while Singleton was on his way to work in Lynchburg, Carpentieri said.
Singleton is a meteorologist for WSET 13. |
