The Franklin County Sheriff's Office is warning residents and businesses that phone solicitations for money to support the county's E911 communications center are not associated with the office.
Several businesses have received calls from someone saying he is selling refrigerator magnets to raise money for the communications center, according to Capt. Harry Clingenpeel.
"These calls are not authorized or associated with the sheriff's office in any way," Clingenpeel said.
The name associated with the company on its voice mail is Safety Promotions LLC, Clingenpeel said.
"Do not give out personal or financial information to someone who contacts you on the telephone," Clingenpeel said.
Anyone who receives a phone solicitation regarding the 911 communications center should call the sheriff's office at 483-3000 to report it, he added. |
