FERRUM -- Jacole Hairston rallied from a season-worst scoring performance to net 19 points in leading Ferrum College to an 85-78 USA South Athletic Conference women's basketball victory over Piedmont (Ga.) College.
Ferrum's triumph is its seventh in a row, its second this season over Piedmont, and its 18th in a row at William P. Swartz Gymnasium dating to last year.
Also, Ferrum (15-1 in the USA South, 21-2 overall) finishes regular-season play undefeated at home (11-0) for the first time since 2007.
Hairston was held to two points on a 1 of 9 shooting display in Saturday's league win over LaGrange (Ga.) College. Sunday, Hairston was 8 of 15 from the floor.
Shea Smith (Franklin County) finished with 17 points and six assists.
Tesla Akers tallied 16 points to move into sixth place on Ferrum's career scoring list with 1,324 points.
Piedmont (5-11 in the USA South, 9-13 overall) cut a 15-point halftime deficit to three points late in the game, but that's as close as the Lions would get.
Laurel Hamel netted a game-best 23 points for Piedmont and Mary Kate Rushton scored 16.
Kylene Culler completed a double-double for Ferrum by scoring 12 points and pulling down 15 rebounds.
The Panthers converted 32 of 43 free throws.
Ferrum concludes regular-season play this weekend with consecutive road games.
The Panthers play Methodist (N.C.) University in Fayeville on Saturday and Greensboro (N.C.) College in Greensboro on Sunday.
Both games tip off at 2 p.m.
