SOUTH BOSTON -- Halifax County won eight of 13 bouts Tuesday en route to a 45-19 victory over Franklin County's B-team in a non-district varsity dual match.
Winning bouts for the Eagles were Phillip Bynum (106 pounds, by forfeit), Trey Shafer (126 pounds, by decision 13-7), Devin Jones (138 pounds, by major decision 14-6), and Justin Rakes (152 pounds, by forfeit).
Winning bouts for the Comets were Kevin Boddie (182 pounds by decision 10-9 in overtime), Ezra Walker (285 pounds, by pin in 14 seconds), Zack Carlson (113 pounds, by pin in 3:08), Krunal Patel (120 pounds, by pin in 1:27), Ethan Collie (132 pounds, by forfeit), Gannon Griffin (145 pounds, by forfeit) James Anderson (160 pounds, by forfeit) and Tommie Hairston (170 pounds, by forfeit).
Winning exhibition bouts were Hairston for Halifax by pinfall at 180 and Carlson at 113 by major decision and for FCHS, Jones by 10-3 decision at 138 and Rakes by 8-7 decision in overtime at 152.
