ROANOKE -- Deandre Gill scored a team-best 24 points Tuesday to lead William Fleming to a 67-56 boys' freshman basketball victory over Franklin County.
The Colonels' victory is their second this season over the Eagles (4-9), who suffered their third straight loss.
FCHS was playing its first game since Jan. 15.
The Colonels led 20-16 after the first quarter and extended their lead to eight points at halftime, 33-25, by taking the second stanza 13-9.
William Fleming took the third quarter 19-18 to make the count 52-43.
The Colonels won the fourth period 15-13.
William Fleming converted 28 field goals and was 13 of 31 from the free-throw line.
Darrius Bratton scored 15 points.
Also scoring are Charles Carter with seven points, Xavier Moore and Shiqual Price each with five, Kasson Samuel with four, Devon Snow, Cursean Snow and Denzel English each with two.
FCHS made 16 field goals, six of which were 3-pointers, and was 18 of 22 from the free-throw line.
Briggs Parris netted a game-best 27 points. He swished five 3-pointers.
Also scoring were Nick Guadarrama with nine points, Noah Davis with eight, Tyler Williams with five, Jacob Smith with three and Cameron Janney and Hunter Barbour each with two.
FCHS returns to action today against Halifax County. Tip off at Samuel M. Hawkins-Central Gymnasium is 4:30 p.m. |
