DANVILLE -- George Washington-Danville jumped out to a 14-4 first quarter lead Tuesday and defeated Franklin County, 48-40, in a Western Valley District boys' junior varsity basketball game.
Danville won the second stanza by one point, 11-10, to push the spread to 11, 25-14, at intermission.
FCHS (1-4 in the WVD, 10-7 overall), which suffered its second loss of the season to Danville, captured the third quarter 10-9 to slice a point off its deficit, 34-24.
FCHS took the fourth quarter, 16-14, to produce the final count.
Taeshon Watlington led Danville with a game-best 16 points and Isaiah Bethel finished with 12.
Also scoring were Donald Smith with seven points, Ty'Quan Graves with five, Timothy Glass with four and Terrance Fitzgerald and Justin Younger each with two.
Zach Clayborne paced FCHS with nine points.
Also scoring were Zedric Barnett and Tyler Bennett each with seven, Tyrik Williamson with six, Rasmo Guadarrama with four, Malik Harris with three and C.J. Gravely and Nick Robertson each with two. |
