| Mary Washington holds Ferrum to a season-worst points total |

FREDERICKSBURG -- Ferrum College's women's basketball team, ranked No. 20 in the nation by D3hoops.com, dropped a non-conference game 64-48 Wednesday to University of Mary Washington.
The Eagles (13-5) fell the Elite Eight of last year's NCAA Division III tournament and finished 30-1.
Ferrum was held to a season-worst points total. Its output was 35 points below its its average.
The Panthers shot 30 percent from the floor.
Katy Kipps netted 15 points and was Ferrum's only double-figure scorer. She was 9 of 9 from the free-throw line.
Sam Partonen tallied 17 points and Aby Diop scored10 points for the Eagles.
Mary Washington has defeated Ferrum each of the past three years.
The Panthers (14-2) return to action today and Saturday, with a pair of USA South Athletic Conference road games.
Ferrum plays Averett University today at 7 p.m. and Mary Baldwin College Saturday at 4 p.m.

The former Blacksburg prep standout started her streak in the Panthers' nine-point loss at Maryville (Tenn.) College and continued and extended it in victories over Christopher Newport University and North Carolina Wesleyan College and in Wednesday's setback at Mary Washington. |
