| Inclement weather alters Franklin County prep slate |

Franklin County's boys' basketball tripleheader at Patrick Henry and its girls' basketball doubleheader at home against the Patriots were postponed because of inclement weather which closed county schools Friday.
Also postponed was a boys' and girls' varsity swimming meet involving FCHS at the Martinsville YMCA.
No make-up dates have been announced for the girls' basketball doubleheader or the swim meet.
The boys' basketball tripleheader has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 5 in Roanoke.
Boys' and girls' basketball games involving Western Valley District schools George Washington-Danville and Halifax County also were postponed Friday, but they were played Saturday.
Danville (4-1 in the WVD) defeated Halifax (0-5 in the WVD) 81-73 in the boys' varsity contest to take a one-half game lead over PH (3-1 in the WVD and William Fleming (3-1 in the WVD) in the race for the district championship.
Danville also won the girls' varsity game to improve to 3-2 in league play.
FCHS's girls' varsity and junior varsity teams return to action Tuesday at home against Danville.
The doubleheader begins with the junior varsity contest at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7:30 p.m.
FCHS's boys' varsity and junior varsity squads travel to Danville to resume their seasons Tuesday.
The jayvee game is set for a 6 p.m. tip off, followed by the varsity game at 7:30 p.m.
The next game for FCHS's boys' freshman team is Tuesday, Jan. 29 at William Fleming. Tip off is 4:30 p.m. |
