A Bassett man faces up to life in prison after pleading guilty last Friday to fondling an 8-year-old girl.
James Andrew Kendrick, 26, pleaded guilty to one count of object sexual penetration of a child under the age of 13.
The incident occurred in 2004 at a residence in Franklin County when Kendrick was 18 years old, according to Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Cooper Brown.
The girl told investigators about the incident in February 2012.
Kendrick told investigators that he was under the influence of marijuana when the incident occurred, Brown said.
Kendrick is being held in the Western Virginia Regional Jail until his sentencing, set for Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. in Franklin County Circuit Court. |
