In conjunction with Lutheran Family Services of Roanoke, Trinity Ecumenical Parish (TEP) will host "Caregiver Support U," a series of classes designed to help those in caregiver roles monitor and improve their own well-being throughout the rigors of helping to care for loved ones
The weekly sessions will be held at TEP beginning Monday, Feb. 4 from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
Course content is non-denominational.
The series' main presenter will be Mary Lou Blevins, program director for Older Adult and Grief Services, Lutheran Services of Virginia.
Session topics include Planning Ahead, Finding and Using Resources, Self Care for the Caregiver, Family Dynamics and Communication, Dealing with Dementia and Financial Well Being.
Blevins will preview the series in more detail during TEP's adult education hour from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20.
"These will be very valuable sessions for anyone who is in or anticipates a caregiver role, as well as for those in a position to support them," said Parish Nurse Tami Akin.
