| Spotswood stops Eagles’ six-game winning streak |

RICHMOND -- Bailey Williams netted a game-best 23 points Saturday to lead Spotswood to a 63-51 non-district girls' varsity basketball victory over Franklin County.
The contest was part of Saturday's StatVa Classic, a one-day showcase of games played at Highland Springs High School.
The setback ends a season-best six-game winning streak by the Eagles (3-0 in the Western Valley District, 11-4 overall).
FCHS led 21-15 after the opening quarter, but Spotswood rallied to tie the score at 25 at halftime by taking the second stanza, 10-4.
Spotswood outscored the Eagles 17-14 in the third quarter to take a three-point lead, 42-39.
Spotswood secured the victory by winning the fourth quarter 21-11.
Williams swished two of her team's 3-point field goals.
McKenzie Jenkins finished with 10 points for the winners and four other players scored.
Miranda Crockett and Zarkia Mattox each tallied 15 points to pace the Eagles.
Charmaine Hairston netted 10 points to move into second on FCHS's career scoring list in girls' basketball with 1,111 points.
Hairston hit both of the Eagles' 3-point field goals.
Also scoring for FCHS were Brianna Taylor with seven points and Destani Mitchell and Daishi Dudley each with three.
FCHS plays Western Valley District rival Patrick Henry at home Friday.
