A Rocky Mount man was killed Wednesday afternoon when his pickup truck ran off the road and struck a tree at Coles Creek.
Homer Elmore Graham, 78, was traveling south on Coles Creek Road in a 1995 Ford F-150 when the pickup ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a mailbox, according to Sgt. Rob Carpentieri with the Virginia State Police.
Graham overcorrected, ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree, Carpentieri said.
Graham was not wearing a seat belt, Carpentieri said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The single-vehicle crash occurred about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on Route 643 (Coles Creek Road) at the intersection of Route 841 (Calico Rock Road). |
