The air temperature was about 41 degrees on New Year's Day for the 2013 Polar Ski Day at Tom and Ginger Tanner's home in Baywood on Smith Mountain Lake. The intrepid group who participated included, from left, Caroline Cooper, Tom Tanner, Rusty Richardson, Todd Rowland, Glenn Cliborne, Adele Caputo, Ginger Tanner, Sara Lemley, Ryan McEntire, Dan Lemley, Mitch McEntire, Doug Morrison, Connor Richuk, Matthew Richuk, Phil Richuk. The youngster in front is Doug Morrison Jr., who didn't ride this year but plans to be ready for 2014.
