BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Franklin County's girls' junior varsity basketball team defeated Sullivan-Central (Tenn.) Saturday, 57-43, to end a two-game losing streak.
Ayanna Saunders and Mikayla Holland each netted a team-best 13 points and T.T. Hairston added 12 for the Eagles (4-3).
Also scoring were Sierra Gardner with nine points, Jasmine McHeimer with five, Timara Brooks with three and India Wade with two.
FCHS opens Western Valley District play Wednesday, Jan. 2 at Patrick Henry. Tip off in Roanoke is 5:30 p.m.

Jayvees drop a 3-point decision
BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Knox-Bearden edged Franklin County 64-61 Thursday in a non-district girls' junior varsity basketball game.
FCHS (3-2), which saw a three-game winning streak snapped with the loss, was playing its first game since Dec. 11.
The Eagles were 8 of 20 (40 percent) from the free-throw line.
Jasmine McHeimer led FCHS with 17 points, while T.T. Hairston scored 11 and Ayanna Saunders netted 10.
Also scoring were Mikayla Holland with eight points, Sierra Gardner with six, India Wade and Timara Brooks each with four and Cameron Church with one.

Vikings defeat Eagles by 21
BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Tennessee High topped Franklin County 62-41 in a non-district girls' junior varsity basketball game Friday.
The setback is the Eagles' second in a row.
T.T. Hairston netted a team-best 14 points. She was FCHS's lone double-figure scorer.
Also scoring for FCHS (3-3) were Ayanna Saunders with seven points, Mikayla Holland and Jessica Didlake each with two and India Wade and Ni Ni Dillard each with one. |
