The Franklin County School Board made a wise decision Monday when members unanimously chose Dr. Mark Church as the new superintendent. Dr. Church had been serving as interim superintendent since July 1 and was considered for the position along with other applicants.
Not only does Dr. Church have the skills, background, education and dedication to get the job done, he also is an insider and county native who understands the school system, as well as students, teachers and parents. He hit the ground running and continues the pace.
Dr. Church also has a background in career and technical education, which is vital as school systems strive to prepare our students for jobs in this century of technological advancements. All studies indicate most jobs will be created in the coming years in career and technical education fields.
Dr. Church will provide a steady hand at the helm, always putting what's best for students first. And his positive approach to working with others has already set a new and welcome course for county schools.
Congratulations to Dr. Church, and we urge everyone to be supportive of his efforts as he guides our schools in a constructive, progressive direction. |
