A Henry man was killed Saturday afternoon when a tree fell on him in the back yard of his home on Knob Church Road.
Zelphia Ronto "Pete" Aheron, 72, was attempting to cut down a large oak tree by himself when the tree fell on top of him, according to Investigator Jay Mason with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.
Aheron's son found him lying underneath the tree about 30 minutes later, Mason said. He called 911 and moved the tree using a nearby tractor.
Aheron was pronounced dead at the scene, Mason said.
The incident occurred Saturday about 12:58 p.m.
