Friday, December 7, 2012
LYNCHBURG -- Colton Hunt netted a single-game school record 35 points Wednesday night in leading Randolph College to a 78-59 non-conference men's basketball victory over Ferrum College.
With the victory, the Wildcats (7-0), Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) tournament runner-up each of the past two seasons, remains undefeated.
Randolph has won three of the last four games in this series.
Hunt's 35-point effort is a career-best -- it surpasses two 32-point showings posted earlier in his career. He owns the top eight individual scoring performances in program history.
Hunt netted 19 of his 35 points in the second half. He was 13 of 20 from the field.
Ferrum (4-3) saw a two-game winning streak snapped with the loss. The Panthers trailed by 20 points, 49-29, at halftime.
Randolph converted 55.3 percent of its shots, including a 10 of 18 display from 3-point range.
Freshman J.D. Wallace, who was named USA South Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week in men's basketball earlier this week, tallied a career-best 25 points for the Panthers, while Lamont King added 12.
Wallace swished 5 of 6 tries from beyond the 3-point arc.
Ferrum returns to action Saturday against Goucher (Md.) College. Tip off in Baltimore, Md. is 7:30 p.m. |
