 Jeff Paddyfote |
Friday, December 7, 2012
Franklin County Eagles Football Club will host its annual Football Banquet Sunday, Dec.9 at 2 p.m.
The banquet will be held at the Franklin County Family YMCA's Essig Youth Center.
Players and coaches of FCHS's freshman, junior varsity and varsity football teams will be honored at the event.
Guest speaker is Jeff Paddyfote.
Paddyfote, who resides in Charlotte, N.C., earned all-district and all-region accolades in high school as a standout running back at Laurel Park, a former Group AA high school in Henry County, from which he graduated in 1985.
During his high school career, the Lancers won two district championships, two regional championships and reached the Group AA state semifinals.
Paddyfote rushed for more than 2,200 yards and 37 touchdowns during his career.
Paddyfote was a three-year letter winner at West Virginia Tech and started at tailback for the Golden Bears' 1989 conference championship club.
That championship was West Virginia Tech's first in 40 years and Paddyfote scored the school's first postseason TD in school history.
Paddyfote declined a free-agent tryout with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Paddyfote has spent 20 years in the financial services industry and also serves as a youth mentor/motivational speaker, Sunday school teacher and in the homeless and prison outreach ministry.
Paddyfote continues to be involved in athletics too: he competes at the masters level in the 100 and 200 meters and serves as president of the Carolina's Track and Field Club.
Tickets are $10 and must be purchased by all patrons except for players and coaches.
