A great partnership will kick off Saturday with a grand opening. The Franklin County Family YMCA and Ferrum College have joined forces to establish a new Y facility on campus. The grand opening is set for 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The 20,000-square-foot facility at the Ferrum College Fitness Center is on Wiley Drive. Those attending Saturday can enjoy exercise class demonstrations, free massages by a licensed massage therapist, and healthy refreshments.
This is an excellent way to maximize the use of the facility, which will be open to students as well as the public. As Ferrum College President Jennifer Braaten said, "The missions of both the Y and the college share a focus on health and well-being grounded in a strong faith base."
The Ferrum YMCA offers state-of-the-art exercise equipment, classes and programs, as well as indoor racquetball courts and full-size basketball courts. Members can also access the college's heated swimming pool and outdoor tennis courts.
We urge residents to attend the grand opening and help support this partnership.
