Russ Johnson, a former member of the Franklin County Board of Supervisors, is asking Smith Mountain Lake residents to attend a meeting today (Wednesday, Dec. 5) at 7 p.m. at Bernard's Landing Conference Center to organize a petition in hopes of doing something about low water levels at the lake.
Johnson will present information about the water levels at the lake.
"I believe we all have a voice and need to be heard in Richmond," Johnson said. "The governor will be appointing a new person in January to sit on the Water Release Board."
Johnson urged citizens to attend the meeting and learn how a petition can be organized to express lake citizen's views and possibly change the current situation.
