The Rocky Mount Police Department is conducting its 21st annual food drive from now through Dec. 19.
The public is encouraged to drop off canned, non-perishable food items or monetary donations at the police department at 1250 North Main Street.
All canned items must have a label on the can.
Arrangements can be made for the pickup of large donations by calling the RMPD at 540-483-9275.
The food will be distributed Dec. 20 to families in the community whom the police department knows to have fallen on hard times.
"With the monetary donations, anything we are lacking in canned food, we can go out and buy," said Regina Stanley, administrative assistant for the RMPD.
The Christmas season was made brighter last year for 25 area families, thanks to the generosity of the public, added Stanley. |
