Football banquet is set for Dec. 9 at YMCA

Franklin County Eagles Football Club will host its annual Football Banquet Sunday, Dec.9 at 2 p.m.

The banquet will be held at the Franklin County Family YMCA's Essig Youth Center.

Players and coaches of FCHS's freshman, junior varsity and varsity football teams will be honored at the event.

Guest speaker is Jeff Paddyfote.

Tickets are $10 and must be purchased by all patrons except for players and coaches.

Football Club to meet Monday at FCHS

Franklin County Eagles Football Club will hold its monthly meeting Monday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m.

The meeting will take place in the lecture room of the Dorothy Phelps Student Center at Franklin County High School.

All members are encouraged to attend this meeting because plans for the upcoming postseason awards banquet will be finalized.

The meeting is open to the public.

Basketball officials meeting is set for Saturday

A meeting for those interested in officiating and scorekeeping in the Franklin County Department of Parks and Recreation basketball leagues this season is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 1.

The meeting is set for 1 p.m. at Harold Ramsey Gymnasium at Franklin County High School.

Hall wins last race contest of season

Harry Hall of Rocky Mount won the last race of the Chase at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway.

Hall picked Kyle Busch, Kasey Kahne and Clint Bowyer for a total of 108 points.

Two other entrants, Carol Brown and Jon Snead, also garnered 108 points, but Hall chose Kyle Busch for the tiebreaker.

Busch led the most laps in the race.

A season winner will be announced soon.

That winner, who accumulated the most points during the season, will receive a $100 prize.
