FOREST -- Franklin County's freshman boys' basketball team outscored Jefferson Forest's junior varsity squad 24-6 in the fourth quarter Wednesday en route to a 61-46 triumph.
With the win, its first of the season, FCHS (1-1) squares its record.
The Eagles trailed 40-37 at the start of the fourth quarter.
Andrew Harris, Nick Guadarrama and Hunter Barbour, all of whom scored in double figures for FCHS, accounted for all of the Eagles' 24 fourth-quarter points.
FCHS led 11-7 after the opening period before Jefferson Forest rallied to force a 23-23 halftime stalemate by winning the second stanza 16-12.
The Cavaliers broke the deadlock by taking the third period 17-14 to produce a three-point edge, 40-37.
Maluk Stewart led Jefferson Forest with 20 points and Pierce Saunders added 12.
FCHS converted 23 field goals, three of which were 3-pointers, and was 12 of 21 (57.1 percent) from the free-throw line.
Harris (two 3-pointers) finished with a game-best 23 points. Barbour netted 12 and Guadarrama tallied 11.
Also scoring were Briggs Parris (one 3-pointer) with seven points, Noah Davis with four and Cameron Janney and Jacob Smith each with two. |
