VINTON -- Benjamin Franklin Middle School's wrestling team opened its 2012-13 season with a 60-15 triumph over Roanoke Valley Middle School District rival William Byrd Wednesday.
The Eagles (1-0) won 10 bouts by pinfall -- five of those pinfall triumphs were recorded in less than a minute.
Posting wins for BFMS were David Fisher at 90 pounds (pin, 1:17), Jonathan Altice at 100 pounds (pin, 18 seconds), Skyler Akers at 120 pounds (pin, 2:59), William Dunn at 130 pounds (pin, 1:13), Moses Hodnett at 140 pounds (pin, 27 seconds), Will Robertson at 150 pounds (pin, 1:55), Toby White at 160 pounds (pin, 31 seconds), William Arrington at 180 pounds (pin, 36 seconds) and Cameron Turner at heavyweight (pin, 44 seconds).
Byrd won bouts at 98 pounds, 110 pounds and 115 pounds.
BFMS returns to action Wednesday, Dec. 5 at home against district rival Cave Spring Middle School. Match time is 5:15 p.m.
