| SML Power Boating Association wins Best Chili award |
 SML PBA Full Blown Chili, sponsored by SML Power Boating Association, was awarded the coveted Smith Mountain Lake’s Best Chili 2012. |
The 10th annual Smith Mountain Lake Fall Chili & Craft Festival was a flurry of activity on Nov. 3, as 14 cooking teams set their tents, decorated their booths and began concocting their secret recipes on-site at Bridgewater Plaza.
An estimated 2,000 chili-lovers attended the event.
The coveted Smith Mountain Lake Best Chili 2012 award was presented to SML PBA Full Blown Chili, sponsored by SML Power Boating Association. The judges ranked their chili highest scores for taste, consistency, aroma, color and bite.
Second place was awarded to Rambos Revenge Chili-Chili Banditos, sponsored by Moore's at Home/ Sweets.
SML Pirate Chili, created and cooked by the Smith Mountain Lake Young Professionals, captured third place in the overall competition.
Voted favorite by festival-goers and receiving the People's Choice Chili Award was Hot Foot Chili, sponsored by Traditional Tae Kwan Do Academy.
The Best Presentation, Showmanship award was presented to Smith Mountain Lake PBA Full Blown Chili, as well. Their trophy was earned for having the most imagination in winning the crowd. |
