The driver of a Cadillac, involved in a crash on Bethlehem Road last month in which a 15-year-old Vinton girl was killed, died last week in a Roanoke hospital.
Rufus Arthur McGill II, 19, of Roanoke died Thursday at Roanoke Memorial Hospital from injuries he sustained in the Oct. 14 crash, according to Sgt. Rob Carpentieri with the Virginia State Police. McGill was not wearing a seat belt.
McGill was traveling east on Bethlehem Road in a 2005 Cadillac CTS when the car ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree, Carpentieri said.
Hannah Marie Long, 15, a front-seat passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene, Carpentieri said. She was not wearing a seat belt.
Four other passengers, ranging in age from 19 to 20, were also transported to Roanoke Memorial.
The crash occurred about 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14 on Route 739 (Bethlehem Road), one mile west of Route 643. |
