Construction in Franklin County decreased in September, based on the number of building permits that were issued, compared to the same month in 2011.
A report by the county building inspections department shows that 83 building permits were issued in September, down from the 107 permits that were issued in September 2011.
The value of all building permits issued in September totaled $3,338,666, down from $7,501,909 in September 2011.
A total of five building permits were issued in September for new residential homes. Manufactured home permits (single and doublewide homes) totaled seven, and building permits issued for additions and alterations and accessory buildings totaled 34.
A total of 525 inspections were conducted in September. Fees collected from all permits issued totaled $15,271.
Inspectors drove a total of 6,757 miles in September to conduct construction inspections.
