A Rocky Mount man was indicted on drug charges after police found a makeshift meth lab in the Dent Street residence where he was staying.
Scotty Derrick Young, 37, is charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and possessing the ingredients and materials to manufacture methamphetamine.
Young was indicted on the two felony counts in July, but the indictments were sealed until recently due to the ongoing investigation.
On June 2, investigators were given permission by the homeowner to search the residence on Dent Street where Young was living, according to Sgt. Tim Taylor with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators allegedly found ingredients and materials used in the manufacture of methamphetamine inside the residence, Taylor said.
Young's trial is set for Oct. 30 at 9 a.m. in Franklin County Circuit Court.
A Roanoke man was also indicted in connection with the case. Ryan Alexander Cox, 23, is charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, Taylor said. Cox is still at large.
An indictment is not a finding of guilt. It is a determination by jurors that enough evidence exists to warrant a trial. |
