A Rocky Mount man will spend 60 days in jail for embezzling money from his employer.

Gregory Scott Parker II, 27, was sentenced to 60 days Tuesday in Franklin County Circuit Court for misdemeanor embezzlement and placed on probation for 12 months.

The judge postponed Parker's sentencing on a second felony embezzlement charge until a year after he serves the 60-day jail sentence. Parker will be on probation until that sentencing hearing.

If Parker has been of good behavior while on probation, the felony embezzlement will be reduced to misdemeanor embezzlement, according to court records.

Parker was also ordered by the court to make restitution of $1,643, which was embezzled from a pizza restaurant in Rocky Mount where Parker was employed, according to court records.

Also Tuesday, a Roanoke woman pleaded guilty to 12 misdemeanor charges of obtaining money under false pretense.

Laura Kimberly St. Clair, 43, was sentenced to 12 months in jail on each charge with all but 12 months suspended.

St. Clair was also placed on probation for six years after her release and ordered to be of good behavior for eight years.

She was also ordered to make restitution of $3,200, according to court records.

St. Clair had been charged with six felony charges of uttering forged checks and six felony charges of obtaining money by false pretense. The 12 felony charges were reduced to the misdemeanor charges through a plea agreement.

The offenses committed by St. Clair occurred between Oct.10, 2011, and March 14, 2012.
