A Boones Mill woman, who pleaded guilty to eight counts of forging checks and eight counts of uttering forged checks, was sentenced Wednesday in Franklin County Circuit Court to 32 years in prison.
However, 29 years of the sentence for Tracie Lee Dillon, 32, was suspended.
Dillon will be incarcerated in the Virginia Department of Corrections' behavioral correction program, which usually lasts two years.
If Dillon successfully completes the program, she will be released at the time of completion.
Dillon was also placed on probation for three years after her release and ordered to be of good behavior for 40 years.
Dillon had made restitution to the victim prior to her sentencing Wednesday, according to court records. The amount of the forged checks totaled $733, according to the indictments against Dillon returned by a grand jury in March. The forgeries occurred between Jan. 18 and Jan. 23. |
