A Hardy man was killed early Monday morning on Route 122 when his vehicle ran off the road, struck several trees and overturned.
Jesse Roy Pruitt, 47, was traveling north on Booker T. Washington Highway in a 1994 Nissan Sentra at an excessive speed when he lost control of the vehicle and ran off the left side of the roadway, according to Sgt. Rob Carpentieri with the Virginia State Police.
The Nissan struck several trees before overturning, Carpentieri added.
Pruitt was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene, Carpentieri said.
The crash occurred about 1:30 a.m. Monday on Route 122 about one-tenth of a mile north of Route 1035 (Beechdale Road). |
