Six Franklin County elementary schools are still vying for votes in the Avery Give Back to Schools online contest.

At stake are $10,000 in Avery school supplies, $1,000 worth of gift cards, and 25,000 Box Top coupons for the top five vote-getting schools in the nation.

Twenty-five runner-up schools will each receive 10,000 Box Top coupons. In addition, 10 random winners with more than 100 votes will each receive 5,000 Box Top coupons.

Last year's contest winner, Henry Elementary is in second place so far this year. Other local schools and their rankings include Sontag Elementary in 11th place, Snow Creek in 29th, Boones Mill in 57th, Ferrum in 68th, and Windy Gap in 100th.

To vote or for more information on helping local schools through this online contest, visit www.avery.com/giveback.

Voting will continue until Sept. 14. Anyone with an email address can register and vote for multiple schools, as long as not more than one vote per school is cast per day from that email address.

Last year Henry Elementary was the national winner and received $10,000 in Avery school supplies, 10,000 Box Top coupons ($1,000) and $1,000 in gift cards for teachers to purchase additional school supplies.

With fewer than 215 students, Henry Elementary was in competition with much larger schools with 400 to 1,200 students.

Last year more than 16,000 schools nationwide competed in the online voting.
