A Rocky Mount woman will serve six months in jail for embezzling money from her employer in September 2011.
Lisa Ann Hodges, 44, was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty in April to embezzling $960 from a Doe Run convenience store, where she was a cashier, according to Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Patrick Nix.
Judge W.N. Alexander suspended three and one-half years of the sentence last week in Franklin County Circuit Court.
Hodges admitted to investigators that she took $40 to $50 on multiple occasions when customers purchased a certain brand of cigarettes, Nix said. She simply did not ring up the sale and pocketed the money.
Hodges was charged when she was observed by the store manager, Nix added.
