A Martinsville man was killed Saturday morning when the motorcycle he was operating collided with a sport utility vehicle on Sontag Road.
Dennis Keith Eggleston, 56, was transported to Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital, where he died a short time later, according to Sgt. Rob Carpentieri with the Virginia State Police.
Eggleston was traveling west on Route 619 on a 2008 Kawasaki when an eastbound 2000 Isuzu Rodeo attempted to make a left turn, Carpentieri said. The Rodeo pulled into the path of the motorcycle, which then struck the Rodeo.
Eggleston was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, Carpentieri said.
No information on the driver of the Rodeo is available at this time, Carpentieri said. The crash is under investigation.
The crash occurred Saturday about 9 a.m. on Route 619, just east of Route 707 (Ashpone Tavern Road). |
