SATURDAY, JULY 7

Booker T. Washington Monument will offer a Saturday Afternoon at the Movies at the visitor center auditorium at 2 p.m. featuring "Traces of The Trade."

MONDAY, JULY 9

There will be a breast cancer support group meeting with a discussion on lymphedema at 6:30 p.m. at The Discovery Shop.

TUESDAY, JULY 10

Ginny Brock, local author of "By Morning's Light," will read from and sign her book on life after death at 6 p.m. at the Westlake Library. Refreshments will be served and books will be available for purchase. For more information, call the library at 483-3098.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 11

A prostate support group will meet with guest speaker Dr. Charles Daniels from the Jefferson Surgical Clinic at 6 p.m. at Trinity Ecumenical Parish.

The first ever Booker Book Camp for ages 6 - 12 will be held at Booker T. Washington Monument on Wednesdays, July 11, 18 and 25 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. There is no registration fee. Pre-registration is required.

THURSDAY, JULY 12

Resurrection Catholic Church will host "Understanding Heart Disease and Menopause" with speaker Dr. Craig Turner, cardiologist, at 9 a.m.

SATURDAY, JULY 14

Author Melodie Rakes will be signing her book "Woman of Fairville" at the Virginia Dare Marina from 1 to 3 p.m.

Junior Ranger programs for ages 6 - 12 will be held on Saturdays, July 14, 21 and 28 at Booker T. Washington National Monument from 10 to 11:30 a.m. There is no registration fee. Pre-registration is required.

MONDAY, JULY 16

Life for One will meet at 11 a.m. at Trinity Ecumenical Parish with "Nutrition, Supplements, and Reading Food Labels" by Dr. Michelle Severson. Bring a bagged lunch and drink.

TUESDAY (JULY 17)

A blood drive will be held at Bethlehem United Methodist Church from 12 to 6 p.m.

Smith Mountain Lake State Park will host Music in the Park with Friday Nite Band and The Old Dominion Cloggers beginning at 8 pm. Cost is $5 per person, children 12 and under free. For more information, call 540-297-6066.

The Catalinas will perform live during the After 5 Jive concert series at Westlake Towne Center next to Kroger. Gates open at 5 p.m. with the live music from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Adult admission is $5.
