Rocky Mount Rotary Club Independence Festival: The annual Fourth of July celebration is scheduled for Tuesday, July 3 at 5 p.m. at C.I. (Cy) Dillon Stadium-Fred M. Brown Memorial Field.
The recreation department will offer a variety of novelty items and activities in the midway such as sandy candy (edible art), glow in the dark temporary tattoos, 3-D fireworks glasses, a t-shirt toss and a doubles cornhole tournament.
Music, food, vendors and fireworks will complete the evening.

Basic Knitting Class: This class will be held Saturday, July 7 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Crooked Stitch in Rocky Mount.
Cost is $35 and includes all materials.

Rocking Through the Ages Camp: This camp is for ages 6 to 12.
The camp is scheduled for July 9 through 13 from 9 a.m. to noon for ages 6 to 8 and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for ages 9 to 12 at Studio in the Park at Waid Recreation Area.
Students will be able to take a peek inside the earth and learn about different rocks and how they form.
Cost is $100.

Hike Franklin County: Take the 10,000 Challenge will meet again Saturday, July 14 at 10 a.m. at the Philpott Lake Visitors Center.

Smoke On The Mountain Barn Dinner Theatre Trip: Cost of trip to Greensboro, N.C. is $79 and includes round-trip motor coach transportation, an all-inclusive sit down lunch, ticket to matinee show and a tour host.
The trip is set for Sunday, July 15.
