WEDNESDAY (MAY 16)

The Rocky Mount Center for the Arts will have a Yupo demonstration by Leslie Santapaul from 1 to 4 p.m. Cost is $30, which includes sheets of Yupo paper. For more information, call 483-1317.

The Rocky Mount YMCA will host a free blood pressure screening from 8 to 10 a.m.

THURSDAY (MAY 17)

U.S. Cellular will offer a free device workshop from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Franklin County Library for users to learn about and maximize all the features on their smartphones.

The Franklin County Perinatal Education Center will offer a child safety seat class from 6 to 8 p.m. For more information, call 489-1800.

Sam Ratterree, Lifeguard 10 pilot and veteran of two tours as MedEvac pilot, will present a video record of service at SML Pilots Club meeting at 7 p.m.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) will have an open house from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Franklin Memorial Hospital dining room.

The Ferrum Rescue Squad Auxiliary will have a flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with music, food and drinks. The Singing Panthers of Ferrum Elementary School will perform. Space is available. Call 365-2178 or 365-2281.

The Redwood Community Center will host the Friday Nite Bluegrass Band from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Admission for ages 12 and up is $5.

The Callaway Volunteer Fire Department will host a ham supper from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Following the supper, there will be music by the Dry Hill Draggers.

The Callaway Ruritan Club will host a food drive to benefit Heavenly Manna of Franklin County from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Rocky Mount Kroger parking lot.

The Snow Creek Rescue Squad, Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary will host a benefit breakfast for the Rodney Cundiff Medical Fund at the Snow Creek Rescue Squad building from 7 to 11 a.m. Cost is $7 per plate.

The Franklin County Community Chorus will present its annual spring concert, featuring music from West Side Story, Carousel, hymns, spirituals and others, at 7:30 p.m. at Glade Hill Baptist Church.

SUNDAY (MAY 20)

The Callaway Ruritan Club will have a Wendy's Night Out in Rocky Mount between 5 and 8 p.m. A percentage of all restaurant and take-out sales will be donated to the club to be used for community projects.

Trinity Preschool will have a fundraiser at the Westlake Wendy's from 5 to 8 p.m.

SATURDAY (MAY 26)

The Redwood Community Center will host the 39 Holding Band from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Admission for ages 12 and up is $5.

The annual Veterans' Memorial Day will be held at 9:45 a.m. on the Franklin County Courthouse lawn. The event will be held rain or shine. Everyone is welcome.

Blue Ridge Soil & Water Conservation District and VT Earth-Works will host a composting workshop from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Catawba Sustainability Center (965 Catawba Creek Rd., Catawba).
