Panthers run lacrosse winning streak to three
FERRUM -- Ferrum College's Cara Jacobs and Brooke Hewartson each matched the scoring output of Panthers' opponent, Agnes Scott (Ga.) College en route to a 16-6 USA South Athletic Conference women's lacrosse triumph Sunday at Penn-Roediger Field.
The victory is Ferrum's third in a row and second in as many days at home.
With the win, the Panthers equal their victory total from a year ago when they finished 3-9.
Ferrum, now in its 11th year of intercollegiate play, has never won more than five matches in a single season.
However, all three of Ferrum's wins this year are at the expense of first-year programs.
Agnes Scott (1-2 in the USA South, 1-2 overall) competes in the USA South in women's lacrosse and in the Great South Athletic Conference in all other sports.
Jacobs and Hewartson each netted six goals for Ferrum (2-0 in the USA South, 3-1 overall) and Jacobs distributed three assists.
Rebecca Rowe tallied five goals for Agnes Scott.
