By KEN BRADLEY - Staff Writer
A preliminary hearing for a Hardy man charged with the murder of his wife is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 16 at 9 a.m. in Franklin County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
Philip Allan Kingery's preliminary hearing had been scheduled in November, but was reset because of a court ordered psychiatric evaluation of Kingery.
Authorities said Kingery, 48, is charged with first-degree murder and using a firearm in the commission of a felony in the July death of Rose Kingery, 52.
Kingery surrendered to police in Clayton, Ohio, on Saturday, July 25, after a national manhunt.
Authorities have declined to release details of the death of Rose Kingery.
A missing persons report was filed by a family member on Monday, July 13 when Philip Kingery and his wife did not return to work after the July 4 holiday, according to Franklin County Sheriff Ewell Hunt.
Philip Kingery was employed at Yokohama Tire in Salem, Hunt said. The plant had shut down for the holiday.
During the missing persons investigation, police discovered the body on Philip Kingery's father's property, which adjoins the Kingery residence in the 800 Block of Coopers Cove Road, Hunt said.
Authorities said Philip Kingery turned himself in to a police officer in a coffee shop around 9 a.m. in St. Louis County on July 25.
Kingery was in the shop when a uniformed officer came in, Hunt said. Kingery approached the officer and told him he was wanted for murder in Virginia. He was alone at the time of his arrest.
Kingery's white Ford pickup truck was found in a parking lot near the coffee shop where he surrendered to police.
The pickup truck had Oklahoma plates, Hunt said.
The preliminary hearing on Dec. 16 is to determine if enough evidence exits to certify the charges against Kingery to a grand jury. |
