Area law enforcement agencies are searching for a suspect in connection with a morning armed robbery at Franklin Community Bank on U.S. 220 North.
Franklin County Sheriff Ewell Hunt said a lone gunman, described as a 6-foot tall white male wearing black clothing and a mask, entered the bank around 11:30 this morning and pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the two front-line tellers and demanded money.
Hunt said a dark blue Ford Explorer with no rear tags was seen exiting the parking lot after the robbery.
An undisclosed amount of cash was taken, he said.
Police have saturated the area looking for the vehicle and have notified all surrounding jurisdictions.
