Eight participants are scheduled to appear on the moonshine story-telling stage at Saturday's 36th annual Blue Ridge Folklife Festival on the Ferrum College campus.

Roddy Moore, director of the Blue Ridge Institute and Museum, said moonshine storytellers take the stage from noon until 1 p.m.

Participants include Jimmy Boyd, Ira and Stacy Seay, Junior Stegall, Dickie Atkins, Doug Brooks, Jack Powell and Morris Stephenson.

"Several others have been invited but have not yet responded to the invitation," Moore said.

"With those who will be telling stories of years ago, festival-goers are going to be in for a treat," he added.

Other festival activities include Blue Ridge music (including a Rockabilly sock hop), old time crafts, antique cars, racers and hot rods, farm machinery, moonshine still, horse pulls, coon dog contest, livestock auction, sheep herding, mule jumping, and mountain and Piedmont-style foods.

The festival opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m.
