Residents will get a chance to review the Franklin County Parks & Recreation's comprehensive plan this month.ᅠ
The first community meeting will be held tonight in Rocky Mount in The Franklin Center's multi-purpose room from 5 to 7 p.m.
Other meetings will be held on Oct. 28 at the Westlake Library community room and on Oct. 29 in Ferrum Hall at Ferrum College. Those meeting times will also be 5 to 7 p.m.
The comprehensive plan will help guide development of the county's parks and recreation department for the next 15 years.
More than 1,100 residents participated in the planning process, and input received from the community served as the basis for the plan and its recommendations.
The community can now review the plan and share suggestions. The draft plan, in its entirety, is available for review online at www.franklincountyva.org/parks.
The plan includes new community parks, two regional parks, more trails and water access points, as well as an inter-generational community center.
The final draft of the plan will be presented to the Franklin County Board of Supervisors in November. |
