A Fork Mountain man and his 3-year-old daughter lost all their possessions Saturday night when a fire destroyed their home.
When Tim Pollack and his daughter returned to their rented mobile home at 1458 Fishburn Mountain Road around 10:50 p.m. Saturday, the structure was filled with smoke, according to Fire Marshal Bennie Russell.
Pollack called the fire department from a neighbor's house, Russell added.
The fire apparently started in the living room, said Deputy Fire Marshal Richard Glass, but the cause has yet to be determined.
The damage is estimated at $50,000, Russell said.
Volunteers from Rocky Mount, Fork Mountain and Ferrum fire departments responded to the call, Glass said. No one was injured.
The family is in need of clothing, personal items and household goods. To make donations, call the American Red Cross at 483-5621 or 540-985-3535.
The fire is under investigation by the Franklin County Department of Public Safety. |
